Looking Sharp
I collect and restore old axes. I knock off the rust, give them a sharp edge, a new Tennessee Hickory handle, and stain them. Now, they're better than any new one you could buy today.
These are a few of my favorites.
STICK 'EM UP
Growing up on a farm usually meant a kid had more chores than toys, so you were left to your own devices when there was free time.
With the stick gun in hand, you now could be any number of characters. You became a cop, robber, cowboy, Indian, or soldier, anything.
You might aim to save or destroy the world, but do it quickly because you have to get back to work.
THOMAS NELSON HIGH
I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to give back to my hometown by branding the new high school. The school is named after General Thomas Nelson Jr., regarded as one of the U.S. Founding Fathers since he put his John Hancock under John Hancock on the Declaration of Independence.
LOVED & LEFT
When I moved to NY, one of the first things I did was buy a shitty used bike. It wasn't nice, but I loved it. It brought me joy. A week later, someone stole my wheel. The shitty wheel off my shitty discounted used bike. I had thoughts of abandoning it and leaving it behind like so many others I'd seen around the city. But I loved my shitty bike and wasn't going to leave it behind. So I dragged it back across town and got a new wheel. Joy was restored. Not all bikes get a second chance. I take pictures of the love left behind.
